Notes:-
1993: Bannon was a member of Slough Constituency Labour Party. After
the election he sent a letter to the Conservative Party candidate
stating that he had contested the election as 'The Conservative
Candidate' in order to draw attention to the situation in Slough
at the 1992 general election when a candidate standing as 'The
Labour Candidate' had polled more votes than the Conservative
majority over Labour. He stated he intended to contest every
subsequent byelection until he polled more votes than the majority
over a Conservative candidate, or the law was changed to prevent
such a situation.
Martin was the candidate of the 'Commoners' Party Movement'.
Marlar sought election as a 'Refendum Party' candidate.
Board advocated holding a referendum on the ratification of the
Maastricht treaty.
Day sought election as a 'People and Pensioners Party' candidate.
Grbin, a Bosnian, sought election as a 'Defence of ChildrenŐs
Humanity' candidate. She advocated military intervention in Bosnia
by UK forces.
Stone was opposed to the monarchy and wished to confiscate its
assets to fund improvements in education.

Note:-
1983: Barry advocated the reintroduction of capital and corporal
punishment.
1995: Douglas sought election as a candidate of the 'Conversative Party'.
He was attempting to cause confusion and to attract the votes of
electors intending to vote for the official Conservative candidate.
His candidature was prompted by the situation in the Devon and East
Plymouth constituency at the 1994 European Parliamentary Elections
where a candidate seeking election as a 'Literal Democrat' polled
more votes than the Conservative majority over the Liberal Democrat
candidate.
Blobby had changed his name by deed poll from John McLagan to that
of a Television character. He was a 34-year-old London businessman,
and advocated a four-day week, the bricking-up of the Channel
Tunnel and action on wobbly tables in restaurants.
McLaren sought election as an 'Old Labour' candidate. He was
opposed to the selection of Woolas as the official Labour
candidate, which he regarded as an imposition by the National
Executive Committee of the Labour Party. He had been expelled
from the Labour Party in 1993.

Note:-
1987- Browne came under investigation by the House of Commons Committee
1992: on Member's Interests after he failed to declare a financial
interest when putting a question to the Prime Minister. The
Committee report recommended that Browne be censured, and when
the report was discussed on 7th March 1990 it was endorsed and
Browne was suspended from the House of Commons for four weeks
without pay. Subsequently, Browne decided not to seek selection
as the Conservative Party candidate for the constituency, and
Malone was selected. After the selection, Browne respited on his
decision and attempted to get selection as the official candidate.
The local Conservative Association refused to endorse him and he
announced that he would seek election as an unofficial candidate.
After the Prime Minister had announced the dissolution of
Parliament, Browne repeated his decision to stand, and so on the
penultimate day of the 1987 parliament (March 13th, 1992) the
Government Chief Whip, R.A. Ryder, sent a letter to Browne
withdrawing the goverrnment whip and informing him that were he
to be re-elected, the Conservative whip would 'never again be
extended to you'.
During the election, Browne was supported by the local Conservative
Club, which was not formally linked to the Conservative Party.
