Notes:-
1983:Boyd sought election as a 'Noise Abatement' candidate. He opposed the Army's right to fly helicopters over urban areas at night-time.
1992:Dunlop had been an Ulster Unionist member of Belfast City Council but had the whip withdrawn in 1987 when she opposed the party's policy of adjourning the council immediately in protest at the Anglo-Irish Agreement. She advocated a policy of integration.

Note:-
1992:A petition was lodged relating to this election, but was dismissed. The petitioner had alleged that Hendron had failed to return his election expenses within 35 days of polling day, had overspent the maximum by 800, and failed to pay his election expenses within 28 days of polling day. The election court ruled on 22nd February 1993 that Hendron had breached the law on all three of these grounds, but granted him relief on all three as the irregularities had not been delibarate.
